This is a Pride and Prejudice fantasy variation where magic and faeries and phoenixes exist on top of the P&P plot (i.e. arrogant guy meets judgy girl). Darcy is a fire mage with a rare phoenix named Dante, who takes a liking to Elizabeth even though Darcy doesn't think much of her. When Elizabeth's elemental fire magic starts to manifest itself after she meets Dante, she needs a fellow fire mage to teach her how to use her new powers.

But others find Elizabeth and Darcy's new friendship and growing closeness troubling, and Elizabeth's gift of prophecy warns her of a threat to Darcy. Are they safer together or apart?
